Biden’s $3.5T Bill Suffers Major Setback — Democrats Put In Their Place

Democrats tried to pull one of their dirtiest tricks yet, though fortunately this particular trick ended in epic failure.

The news has been abuzz with the Democrats’ $3.5T spending package, the one that Sen. Manchin (D-WV) openly opposes, especially since this $3.5T is in addition to the $1.2T package that Pelosi has vowed to ram through by September 27.

However, not only did the Democrats get too greedy with $3.5T, they also became too unlawful, given that massive spending packages are designed to address budget concerns, not major policy concerns; otherwise, major policy changes can be folded into spending packages with minimal, if any, scrutiny and debate.

So, the Democrats decided to fold a massive “pathway to citizenship” for illegals in a $3.5T spending package, one that is not meant to introduce any new policies at all.

That would certainly explain the “urgency” in passing the $3.5T bill as well, which Sen. Manchin has long called into question.

Needless to say, that was a rather brazen move, one that was promptly stopped by the Senate Parliamentarian, as reported by Fox News congressional correspondent Chad Pergram.

“A preliminary ruling from Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, obtained by Fox, would bar Democrats from adding immigration provisions to the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill …

Democrats did not have firm legislative text nor a total price tag for the bill. So it’s hard to see how there is an absolute ruling on this … But, budget reconciliation bills, which Democrats were using to avoid a filibuster, must be strictly fiscal in nature and can’t add to the deficit. It was believed that this push to add immigration to the bill was too policy driven.” [Source: The Daily Wire]

Needless to say, hiding a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegals (especially given all the illegals entering the nation now) is hardly “strictly fiscal in nature.”

In addition, MacDonough also wryly noted an “obvious corollary” that the Democrats didn’t think of.

“Perhaps more critically, permitting this provision in reconciliation would set a precedent that could be used to argue that rescinding any immigration status from anyone – not just those who obtain LPR status by virtue of this provision — would be permissible because the policy of stripping status from any immigrant does not vastly outweigh whatever budgetary impact there might be …

That would be a stunning development but a logical outgrowth of permitting this proposed change in reconciliation and is further evidence that the policy changes of this proposal far outweigh the budgetary impact scored to it and it is not appropriate for inclusion in reconciliation.” [Source: The Daily Wire]

In other words, if Democrats were to have gotten away with shoving a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegals in this round, then it is not unlikely that the opposite, or a pathway to stripping citizenship, could be introduced into a massive spending package into the future.

In other words, two can play that game, though the game should never be played at all in the interest of the Americans.

Then again, good luck stressing that to America-last Democrats.

Sen. McConnell (R-KY) is thrilled at these developments, noting that the Democrats epically failed in trying to pass “transformational new policies” under the guise of budgeting changes.

“Senate rules never contemplated a majority circumventing the filibuster by pretending that sweeping and transformational new policies were mere budgetary changes …

Tonight’s ruling confirms that principle. Democrats will not be able to stuff their most radical amnesty proposals into the reckless taxing and spending spree they are assembling behind closed doors. This just illustrates how radical Democrats’ aspirations are and how unmoored their far-left wish list has become from the procedures they want to use to ram it through.” [Source: The Daily Wire]

“Unmoored” is a great way to put it, especially since

“Democratic leaders refused to resist their progressive base and stand up for the rule of law, even though our border has never been less secure … After decades of failing to enact their amnesty agenda, Democrats tried this latest unprecedented gambit. It was inappropriate and I’m glad it failed.” [Source: The Daily Wire]

It was a bit scarier than “inappropriate,” though at least McConnell also noted that it was “unprecedented.” Far darker adjectives would also apply, but at least McConnell is drawing attention to the insanity.

What else is insane is that the Democrats are completely ignoring the fact that their ghastly spending proposals have resulted in the elevation of prices for Americans across multiple sectors, as Marc Rowan, the CEO of Apollo Global Management, has indicated.

“There’s not a place [where we are not seeing inflation]. Everything that we once did now costs more … Lead times, pressure on inventory, pressure on supplies, pressure on employment. Our experience in our portfolio is really no different than the broader economy.” [Source: The Daily Wire]

In other words, Americans can endure more pain at the pump and at the cash register in the grocery store, all courtesy of big optic Democrat spending.

Apparently Biden wishes to unite Americans by obliterating the additional savings they’ve managed to accrue under an asininely run economy …
