Embattled former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who is notorious for his rather unpleasant departure from the network, appears to be keeping a few interesting things in mind for his new podcast, “The Chris Cuomo Project.”
And one of those interesting things apparently pertains to his willingness to have a somewhat open mind regarding a number of militant Democrat antics, chief among them the current “trial” being held by the January 6 Committee.
While the committee does not have actual judicial authority, given that they are all legislators, they sure like to act as if they are, using the Department of Justice and other entities to issue threatening remarks towards Trump and his team.
Which is probably why Cuomo surprisingly shredded the planning underlying the committee.
“I think around the planning and the practical aspects of what happened on January 6th, I don’t see that there’s criminality there, at least in what’s been offered,” Cuomo remarked.
Well, that’s rather interesting. Cuomo apparently dares to go really far outside the CNN lines with comments like that, given that the CNN network had Trump tried and convicted before the committee even started, not to mention before any charges even arose.
And charges are unlikely to arise given the bumbling pace in which the proceedings of the committee have continued, especially when the proceedings are based on thirdhand hearsay.
“My question is, are we really learning enough about what matters or is this starting to play like a gotcha game? Like the impeachment,” Cuomo continued.
It’s pretty clear it’s little more than a game of “gotcha,” as the Dems have put forth nothing of real substance.
Cuomo also took issue with the justification, or lack thereof, being provided by the January 6 committee as well.
“Again, not that the issues that were involved in impeachment don’t matter, but you knew you were never gonna have the outcome. The argument was ‘Well, but this is what we have to do. This is our job,’” Cuomo remarked, before proceeding on to make the most shocking comment of all.
And that comment expressed concern about the impact that such divisive proceedings will have upon America.
“I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know that that kind of fermenting of tension, that kind of protracted process, when you know you weren’t gonna remove the president, was that really in America’s interest, certainly debatable, certainly debatable,” Cuomo added.
“Debatable” is perhaps the nicest way to put it, as the proceedings are largely a joke.
However, the comment is definitely a very surprising comment, given that CNN has long focused on what hasn’t been in America’s interest.
But perhaps Cuomo might be in his new podcast.
Either that, or he cynically sees Fox’s ratings routinely trump CNN’s, which may be why he’s decided to make such interesting remarks on his podcast.
Cuomo also indicated that the January 6 hearings may well go the way of the Mueller Probe regarding Trump’s so-called collusion with Russia, adding that he believes Trump and “his cronies” serve as “lousy leaders” for the nation.
Nonetheless, Cuomo also sharply criticizes efforts to keep going after Trump, especially in such an ineffectual manner.
Not to mention the fact it fuels the “fringe” that the media ironically played a key role in empowering.
“But getting Trump for treason, why even go there?” Cuomo questioned, “they go there because it fuels the fringe aspects of the party. Collusion with Russian operatives. Yes. Collusion is behavior. It’s not a crime. The crime is conspiracy and it’s a distinction with a difference and they were nowhere near it. And it wasn’t ever gonna be prosecuted.”
Well, Dems and Cheney are clearly going there in a lame attempt to prevent Trump from being elected again … though this effort is likely to fail.
If it succeeds, perilous times are ahead for the nation …
