Democrats may wish to rethink their obsession with abortion in light of the latest poll, which reveals that voters have a tad more on their mind than so-called “reproductive rights” for women.
Never mind the fact that Democrats can suddenly define “women” when it suits them, voters are decidedly unimpressed by the media hysteria over the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, instead focusing more on issues that hit closer to home.
For many voters, these issues pertain explicitly to skyrocketing prices, largely as a result of the White House’s unwillingness or inability to seriously deal with inflation.
According to the results of a new polling memo released by the Republican State Leadership Committee, a significant percentage of voters are far more concerned with economic issues.
Approximately 37 percent of voters remarked that inflation and high costs of living constitute their primary concerns, whereas 9 percent commented that crime and violence also comprise a serious issue.
In contrast, only 8 percent of voters declared that abortion was the most critical issue of all when it comes to voting in the fall.
The results of the poll serve as yet “another reminder that what [one sees] on Twitter and in the [mainstream media] doesn’t necessarily capture reality when it comes to voter behavior.”
Consequently, the poll spells out more bad news for Democrats, who are clearly at the losing end when it comes to competence in general economics.
“A little more than four months from [the midterm elections], the political environment is still a disaster for state Democrats,” the memo continued, adding that “state Republicans have a commanding lead on what is far and away the most important issue to voters.”
The poll also mocked Democrats’ attempts to divert attention from economic issues, which affect virtually everyone aside from the political elite.
“The issues state Democrats are trying to exploit to distract from Biden’s failing economy are not going to be salient enough to save them come November,” the memo added drily.
The observations of the memo alone are especially salient considering that independent voters have also weighed in on the issues that matter most, none of which include abortion.
Instead, the key issues for independent voters include the economy, inflation, and job prospects.
