It’s quite funny that Democrats are all about “MeToo” when it’s politically expedient, then all in favor of transgender individuals stealing women’s opportunities when it’s politically expedient to do so.
One would almost think that Democrats have no real values at all, aside from staying in power at all costs.
On the contrary, Republicans tend to have this little thing called consistency, which is especially evident in the leadership of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has long held his own.
And, while the Democrats gloat about Lia Thomas smashing many women’s records, DeSantis is giving the glory and recognition to Emma Weyant, who really should have won the most recent competition that she lost to Lia Thomas.
All thanks to the woke NCAA, which DeSantis directly called out.
“The NCAA is basically taking efforts to destroy women’s athletics,” DeSantis boomed, “so in Florida, we’re going to be very clear, when they try to do things like that, when they try to undermine the integrity of competition, when they try to counteract the ability of women to realize their dreams, we are going to speak out about that.”
In other words, DeSantis goes to bat for women’s rights far more than Democrats, and he doesn’t just talk: He issued an actual proclamation that not only resoundingly recognized Weyant, but also called out the Democrats’ complete dismissal of women’s rights and opportunities when it’s expedient for them to do so.
And that proclamation strikes right to the core of the struggle women now face, thanks to the Democrats’ woke brigade.
“WHEREAS, women have fought for decades to have equal opportunities in athletics, and it is wrong to allow ideology to erode these opportunities as is happening in other states, and the preservation of women-specific athletic teams or sports is necessary to promote equality of athletic opportunities,” the proclamation proclaims.
Amazing, isn’t it, how eager the Democrats are to destroy decades of progress.
One would almost wonder who on Earth would trust them after such shenanigans.
The proclamation also directly recognizes Emma Weyant by name for her achievements, as it should.
“WHEREAS, it is my determination that men should not be competing against women such as Emma Weyant, robbing women and girls of achievements, awards, and scholarships,” the proclamation continues.
Absolutely. Democrats have taken “equity” to the extent that it robs the people who really have fought for decades for a literally equal chance at the playing field, only to be crushed later.
Even worse, they influence entities such as the NCAA, MLB, NBA, NFL, and others to subscribe to their extremist beliefs, an extremism resoundingly rejected by DeSantis.
“WHEREAS, Florida rejects the NCAA’s efforts to destroy women’s athletics, disapproves of the NCAA elevating ideology over biology, and takes offense at the NCAA trying to make others complicit in a lie,” DeSantis boomed.
Gotta love DeSantis for calling out the NCAA for exactly what it is: a conglomeration of liars.
And, most of all, giving much deserved recognition to Ms. Weyant.
“NOW THEREFORE, since she is a native Floridian from Sarasota, I, Ron DeSantis, Governor of the State of Florida, do hereby declare in Florida that Emma Weyant is the rightful winner of the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Women’s 500-yard Freestyle, congratulate her on yet another significant achievement, and express pride that she is a Florida resident.”
Amen!
At last, she at least received recognition from DeSantis.
The Florida governor continued on to harshly criticize the NCAA outside of the proclamation, arguing that “organizations like the NCAA [continue] to perpetuate frauds on the public and that’s exactly what they’re doing. They are putting ideology ahead of opportunity for women athletes.”
Ideology, in other words, trumps equality. Yet the Democrats have the gall to claim that they’re all about equity.
“By allowing men to compete in women’s sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women, making a mockery of its championships, and perpetuating a fraud,” declared on Twitter, “In Florida, we reject these lies and recognize Sarasota’s Emma Weyant as the best women’s swimmer in the 500y freestyle.”
DeSantis better watch out. After all, Twitter may ban him for “disinformation.”
“If the NCAA was willing to actually ensure the integrity of women’s competition, she would have been crowned national champion,” DeSantis added.
The response from the NCAA?
