Biden Tries To Pretend DeSantis Doesn’t Exist — It’s Not Going Well

On Thursday, Joe Biden seriously trolled Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) after DeSantis vowed to stand as a stalwart defense against federally instituted COVID lockdowns, mask mandates, and other restrictions placed on Floridians’ existence.

Biden was holding a press conference outside the White House when he was asked about DeSantis directly. The reporter referenced DeSantis’s direct challenge to the Biden administration, in that he argued, “I am in the way to block too much interference from the federal government.” DeSantis was purportedly using Biden’s “don’t be in the way” warning to governors across the nation with regards to COVID’s spread.

“Your response, Mr. President?” the reporter pressed.

Rather than acknowledge DeSantis’s commentary, Biden opted to emphasize his higher governmental authority instead, as evidenced by his response: “Governor who?”

The press corp began to laugh loudly, and Biden joined alongside with them.

Biden had previously brought up about the high rates of COVID infections in both Texas and Florida, criticizing the ways in which Governor Greg Abbott and DeSantis have handled the COVID pandemic in their states, respectively.

However, given the border crisis permitting COVID-positive migrants to pass through, DeSantis retorted strongly to Biden’s criticism, asking him, “why don’t you do your job?” and demanding that Biden focus on “[getting] this border secure.”

Until Biden makes a serious effort to maintain border security, “I don’t want to hear a blip about COVID,” DeSantis asserted.

DeSantis explicitly stated that the increase in COVID cases across enormous GOP states can be attributed to the high levels of COVID present in migrants, many of whom have crossed the border illegally and started to serve as virus super-spreaders.

In addition, DeSantis also took issue with Biden’s omnipresent lockdown threats, noting that the president had indirectly threatened governors’ authority by proclaiming they should “get out of the way” if they eschew draconian lockdown measures.

However, DeSantis argued that if Biden intends to come for “the rights of parents in Florida,” then he will absolutely stand in Biden’s way and not allow him “to get away with” even more nonsensical lockdowns.

DeSantis railed against the Biden administration’s efforts “to deny kids a proper in-person education,” and he insisted that he will “stand up for the [students] in Florida.”

Moreover, DeSantis also argued that he would stand against efforts to “impose mandates” and “restrict people,” including governmental actions that are designed to ruin “small business,” “livelihoods,” and “jobs.”

“I’m standing for the people of Florida,” DeSantis boldly proclaimed.

DeSantis had been responding to yet another set of criticism against conservative governors from Biden earlier in the week, where Biden called for “leadership from everyone” while noting “some governors aren’t willing to do the right thing to beat this pandemic.”

“Please help,” Biden implored the governors purportedly exacerbating the pandemic, adding that governors should “at least get out of the way” of entities and individuals attempting “to do the right thing” with regards to COVID-related lockdowns and mandates.
